Aventon Level.3

Specs and price checked

Our verdict

Legal in 8 of 8 states and territories today

On the specs that count, it's legal to ride in every state and territory: 250 W rated, assistance to 25 km/h, EN 15194, and supplied without a throttle. You can't yet buy it from BikesOnline in NSW.

Aventon Level.3 verdict in each state

In all eight: Fits every state's 250 W pedal-assist class: 250 W rated, assistance stops by 25 km/h, no throttle above 6 km/h.

Why it gets these verdicts

The Level.3 page contradicts itself, and it's worth knowing which part to believe. The key-specs strip at the top says '500W / 864W Peak in Boost'. The spec tab further down says '36V 250W Rear Hub Drive (682W Peak, 52Nm Torque)' with a 25 km/h assisted speed. We can't tell what the 500 W headline refers to; the rated figure and the EN 15194 statement are what the law reads, and they pass everywhere.

BikesOnline says every Aventon it sells comes without a throttle, and that the Level.3 won't ship to NSW until NSW Fair Trading registers it. That's the product-safety rule that began on 1 February 2026; it limits sale, not riding.

Who it suits

A 733 Wh battery and a torque sensor make the Level.3 a strong long-distance commuter for its price. The one frame size BikesOnline lists suits riders from 160 to 178 cm, so taller riders should look elsewhere.

It was out of stock on the day we checked, and BikesOnline didn't list a weight.
