Both are legal in all eight with no end date. The Milano Plus is $700 cheaper with the bigger battery; the Level.3 carries far more, has a high frame, and can't yet be bought from BikesOnline in NSW.

Pick the Level.3 instead if you're a heavier rider, want a torque sensor, fit the 160–178 cm frame and don't live in NSW.

Where they differ

What each carries

This is the biggest practical gap. BikesOnline gives the Level.3 a 136 kg payload. Leon's manual puts the Milano Plus at 125 kg including the bike, which leaves about 98 kg for rider and luggage. A rider over about 85 kg should start with the Aventon.

Battery and how the motor feels

The Milano Plus has 768 Wh and claims up to 150 km; the Level.3 has 733 Wh and claims up to 113 km. The Level.3's motor is 52 Nm with a torque sensor, which adds power in proportion to how hard you push; the Milano Plus is 55 Nm.

The Level.3 spec tab lists a 36 V 250 W rear hub, 682 W peak, 52 Nm, with a torque sensor and 25 km/h assisted speed. (BikesOnline, checked )

Frame and buying

The Milano Plus is a low step-through; the Level.3 a conventional high frame in one size for riders 160–178 cm. BikesOnline won't ship the Level.3 to NSW until Fair Trading registers it; Leon has NSW stores.

Leon's Milano Plus page lists a Das-Kit X15 motor, 48 V 250 W, 500 W peak, maximum speed 25 km/h. (Leon Cycle, checked )

Choose the Level.3 if…

you're a heavier rider, want a torque sensor, fit the 160–178 cm frame and don't live in NSW.

Choose the Milano Plus if…

you want the bigger battery and an easy step-through for less, and you and your bag weigh under about 95 kg.
